In today’s landscape, where 8-core processors have become the norm, with top models reaching 16 cores from AMD and up to 24 cores from Intel, it’s expected that future generations of processors will continue to increase core counts. However, recent information suggests that Intel is planning to introduce a dual-core processor named “Intel 300.”

Dual-core Intel 300 on the horizon Firstly, the name “Intel 300” doesn’t align with any of Intel’s existing nomenclature. This processor is likely an upgraded version of the Pentium Gold G7400, which remains untouched in the company’s 13th Generation Core series. The processor is rumored to feature a configuration with 2 cores and 4 threads. Both of these cores are expected to be P-Core, Intel’s performance-focused cores currently used in their processors.

Compared to the Pentium Gold G7400, the Intel 300 is said to have a base clock speed of 3.9 GHz instead of 3.7 GHz. The processor will not include turbo boost functionality. In terms of Thermal Design Power (TDP), this scenario won’t utilize Maximum Turbo Power (MTB). As a result, the TDP will remain constant at 46W, just like the Pentium Gold G7400. Additionally, the L3 cache size of 6MB will remain unchanged. According to leaks, this CPU is expected to be announced this quarter, possibly during the upcoming Raptor Lake Refresh update planned for next month.
