Take-Two CEO Addresses GTA 6 Price Concerns Amid Rumors of Cost Increase

As excitement builds for the highly anticipated release of GTA 6 in 2025, rumors about a potential price tag of $150 have sparked intense online debate. Until recently, Take-Two had remained silent on the issue, but CEO Strauss Zelnick has now addressed these concerns during Take-Two’s May 2024 earnings call.

When asked about GTA 6 and the company’s broader game lineup, Zelnick discussed the approach to future game pricing. According to GameSpot, Zelnick emphasized the company’s commitment to providing exceptional value: “There’s an increasing amount of content being made available, and our goal is to ensure that we deliver great value for the price. We aim to offer more value than what we charge. When we set a price, we want it to be seen as good news for the consumer, with the experience far exceeding the cost. That’s our goal.”

Although he did not specify a price for GTA 6, Zelnick hinted that if the game were to be priced higher than usual, it would be justified by the quality and content offered. Ultimately, it will be up to the players to determine if the game meets their expectations.

Take-Two was one of the first publishers to raise the price of new-generation games to $70 back in 2023, a move soon followed by Nintendo, Sony, and Ubisoft. Zelnick noted in 2023 that there had been no significant “pushback” from customers regarding the price increase and that the company remains committed to its pricing strategy.

As the release of GTA 6 approaches, fans will have to wait to see if Take-Two decides to increase game prices again and how the gaming community will respond.
