Sony has released a new PS5 update that includes Discord integration among other new features. The update allows users to join Discord calls from their console and includes improvements in 1440p resolution and data transfer between PS5 consoles.

To use Discord calls on PS5, users need to have the Discord app on their phone or computer. Currently, only voice calls are supported, which means that Discord chat messages and streams from other users cannot be viewed from the console. However, this feature allows players to chat with Xbox and PC gamers without using the PS5 chat system.

Regarding resolution, the PS5 now supports 1440p VRR, which provides smoother visual performance in games. Sony states that more modes and HDMI devices are now supported in 1440p resolution.

The update also includes a new voice command that allows PS5 owners to easily capture gameplay footage. By saying “Hey PlayStation,” users can record a gameplay clip. This feature is currently available in the US and UK.

In addition, Sony has added a new “Playing Now” box to the PS5 panel, allowing players to see which of their friends are currently playing games. Party chat and screen sharing have also been added to the panel.

Lastly, the update features a notification that informs users if they have saved data from their PS4 game when they download and install it on their PS5. It also includes a new option for data and game transfer between PS5 consoles via WiFi or LAN connection.
