LoL Developers Unveil Further Enhancements to Champion Mastery Update

The League of Legends developers have disclosed additional enhancements planned for the Champion Mastery system update slated for later this year.

In a recent developer vlog from Riot Games, developers provided another glimpse into the ongoing development of the Champion Mastery system, initially announced in January. They shed light on the current progress of the system and shared insights into future plans.

Originally designed to acknowledge players’ mastery of specific champions, the Champion Mastery system awarded emotes based on performance in matches. However, over time, the system became outdated. Riot is now addressing this by eliminating the level cap and introducing new rewards for participating players.

One significant change, as revealed by Riot Brightmoon at timestamp 3:38, is that the new title rewards introduced in the Champion Mastery update will be permanent, no longer resetting with each ranked split. This means players can attain the title of their favorite champion without having to grind milestones repeatedly.

Additionally, Champion Mastery points will no longer be influenced solely by team performance. Instead, the system will consider an average of team performance compared to individual performance, facilitating the achievement of higher ranks even when the team’s performance is lacking.

Finally, the developers announced that wins and losses will have a reduced impact on the number of Mastery points earned per game, with losses, in particular, granting more points to players.
