The partnership was announced to the public recently, with both companies revealing that Llama 2 will be free for research and commercial use. Additionally, they stated that the language model is optimized to operate on Windows.

As it was rumored last week, Llama 2 was expected to be developed for businesses and researchers using Meta’s AI technology kit. With the official announcement from Meta and Microsoft, these rumors have now been confirmed.

Meta emphasized that Llama 2 was trained on 40% more publicly available online data. The company also highlighted that Llama 2 can process twice as much context compared to Llama 1.

Regarding its performance in coding, aptitude, reasoning, and knowledge tests, the company stated that Llama 2 outperforms many competitors, surpassing other open-source large language models (LLMs).
