The attack, carried out by a group named Rhysidia, has led to the leaking of substantial details about the game, including gameplay footage, the complete cast, storyline details, and more.

Despite Insomniac’s recent success with its Spider-Man games, information about the Wolverine project had been scarce, with only a brief teaser trailer released. The ransomware group, Rhysidia, claimed responsibility for the attack and expressed a specific interest in financial gain. According to Cyberdaily, the group stated, “We knew that developers making games like this would be an easy target. We were able to get the domain administrator within 20–25 minutes of hacking the network.”

The leaked data, totaling over 1.5 terabytes, encompassed incomplete gameplay footage, insights into the storyline, character details, the voice cast, and administrative documents related to Insomniac and its employees. Notably, internal targets for the Wolverine game included a projected release in 2026, potentially delaying the game beyond initial expectations.

Wolverine’s journey in the game will span various countries, offering players playable areas and delivering a third-person action gaming experience. The leak also hinted at plans for the game to tie into the broader Marvel’s Spider-Man narrative and the expansive Marvel universe.
