Starfield Off to a Rapid Start: Surpasses GTA 5 and Warzone on Steam
Starfield, one of the most highly anticipated games of 2023, garnered significant attention in previous years with its trailers and promotional material. The game, set in a new universe created by Bethesda for over two decades, was recently released for Premium Edition and Constellation Edition owners. Despite being available only to Premium and Constellation edition owners, the game quickly gained a substantial player base on both Xbox and Windows systems, and it has also made a mark on the Steam platform.

According to data released by SteamDB, Starfield, at one point, reached 234,864 concurrent players and is currently being played by approximately 187,000 gamers during the time of writing this. With these numbers, Starfield has momentarily surpassed titles like GTA V, Destiny 2, and Call of Duty (Modern Warfare 2 and Warzone). It’s worth noting that these figures do not include Xbox and Microsoft Store players.
The game, set to be released on September 6th for Standard edition owners and Game Pass users, is likely to see even higher player counts. Notably, some of Bethesda’s previous titles have achieved remarkable player counts on the Steam platform. The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim reached a maximum of 287,411 players, while Fallout 4 reached a maximum of 472,962 players. Additionally, Starfield currently ranks behind titles like Baldur’s Gate 3 and Hogwarts Legacy in terms of player numbers.
