According to Insider gaming sources, Dead Island 2 is set to launch on April 21, 2023, for PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, and PC. While the media embargo will lift on March 13, 2023, some anonymous sources have shared early information about the game.

As previously teased in a YouTube video from February 2022, the game starts with a plane crash in Beverly Hills, where players can choose from six playable characters: Amy, Jacob, Dani, Ryan, Carla, or Bruno. The gameplay and replayability are said to be enjoyable, featuring various types of zombies and weapons, as well as a new skill card system for upgrades.

However, the consensus among players who got to try the game is that the story isn’t as compelling as it could be. Also, the map is not an open world but rather divided into individual segments with loading screens between them.
