8-year-old Isabella Payne, who lives in England, achieved a chance to chat with an astronaut on the International Space Station (UUi) thanks to her father’s amateur radio. Payne said that when she fell asleep on August 2, her father dragged her to the device and held a microphone to his mouth. So she got a chance to chat wit Kjell Lindgren. In a statement to CNN International yesterday, Payne said that she said to her father, “Why are you doing this to me? I need my beauty sleep,”. Then, she suddenly started talking to the US astronaut Kjell Lindgren:

In addition, “When he found out that I was 8 years old, his voice suddenly started to sound cheerful. You could hear him smile. I was very happy when I heard his voice. I thought it was a dream”

Reaction of Kjell Lindgren

Lindgren, 49, also told Payne, “It’s been nice chatting with you. Thank you for coming on the radio and saying hi.” “This may be my favorite contact ever,” the astronaut tweeted after the conversation.

After learning that Lindgren was using an amateur raio in space, father Matthew Payne was looking for an opportunity. Hence, when he received the information that the UUi would pass over their house, he started preparations.
