As you may know, there has been eager anticipation for the next installment in The Elder Scrolls series, The Elder Scrolls VI, since it was announced in June 2018. It was previously mentioned that the game was “more than five years away” from release. Now, there is some significant news regarding The Elder Scrolls VI, and it may require a new PC or Xbox.

The Elder Scrolls VI Will Be Exclusive to Xbox and PC

For those unfamiliar, the last game in The Elder Scrolls series, The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim, became a hit on all platforms, with the PlayStation 3 being one of the major platforms. Since the reveal of The Elder Scrolls VI, all eyes have been on which platforms the game will be available on. Another reason for this curiosity is Microsoft’s acquisition of Zenimax.

Today, a new document has surfaced as part of the ongoing Activision Blizzard deal, which discusses upcoming Microsoft games. This document mentions the possible release date of Elder Scrolls VI and the platforms it will be available on. According to the document, the next game in the Elder Scrolls series will be released “in 2026 or later” and will be exclusive to PC and Xbox. This partially confirms that the game will not be available on PlayStation.

It’s worth recalling that Xbox CEO Phil Spencer previously stated that Elder Scrolls VI was “more than five years away” and that the game might be delayed until 2028 or later. This raises important questions about whether the game will be available on the current Xbox Series consoles. Xbox Series X was introduced in November 2020, and by the time Elder Scrolls VI is released, it will have been eight years. Therefore, we will have to wait and see what steps Microsoft takes in the future.
