Assassin’s Creed Franchise to Release Four New Games by 2026

Ubisoft has exciting plans for the future of Assassin’s Creed, with four games already announced and more in the works. In September 2022, Ubisoft unveiled Mirage, Codename Red, Codename Hexe, and Codename Jade, and a month later, the company announced the multiplayer offering Project Invictus. Along with these titles, sources suggest that three more Assassin’s Creed games are in the conceptual and prototype phase, including a potential VR title called Project Nexus 2.

The upcoming Assassin’s Creed titles will be developed by different studios and feature vastly different playstyles from its predecessors. Project Nebula, being developed by Ubisoft Sofia, will have three different settings, including India, the Aztec Empire, and the Mediterranean. Ubisoft Chengdu is working on Project Raid, a free-to-play 4-player co-operative title with PvE gameplay. Ubisoft Annecy has pitched Project Echoes, a multiplayer title using Ubisoft Scalar technology.

The series will reportedly be returning to an annual release cycle, with major entries being significantly different from the last. The first of these new games, Assassin’s Creed Mirage, is set to release in August 2023, with Assassin’s Creed Nexus following soon after. Codename Red is scheduled for 2024, Assassin’s Creed Invictus for 2025, and Assassin’s Creed Hexe for 2026, according to tentative release dates.

Sources suggest that Codename Red is already in good shape, with a focus on stealth and two playable characters. As for the three prototyped games, we shouldn’t expect them anytime soon given the minimum 5-6 year development time for most AAA titles.
