Overwatch 2 Ranked as the Worst Game on Steam Platform
After hosting their games exclusively on the Battle.net platform for a considerable time, Activision-Blizzard began reintroducing their titles to the Steam platform in recent months. One of the games brought over to Valve’s platform was Overwatch 2, which swiftly earned the dubious distinction of being considered the worst game on the platform.
Overwatch 2 Faces Major Backlash
Following the success of Overwatch, Blizzard announced Overwatch 2 a few years ago. The company stated that the sequel would feature story missions and revealed that the original Overwatch would eventually be retired upon the new game’s release. After a lengthy period of anticipation, Overwatch 2 was launched last year; however, it faced substantial criticism. While graphical improvements pleased players, the game’s perceived lack of content drew significant backlash. Above all, Blizzard’s decision to cancel the game’s story-focused PvE Hero Missions led to player uproar.

These protests led to a massive negative review campaign on Steam in recent weeks. Tens of thousands of players left unfavorable reviews for Overwatch 2 on Steam, making it the lowest-rated game on the platform. According to the reviews, only 9% of Overwatch 2’s reviews were positive, with the remaining feedback being negative. While Steam doesn’t directly display the worst games through its application, users can consult the “Hall of Shame” section on the platform’s website to identify its lowest-rated games. Accordingly, Overwatch 2 stands out as the most poorly reviewed game on the platform, followed by War of the Three Kingdoms and Flatout 3 as the subsequent worst-rated titles.

Despite this, Overwatch 2 still ranks as the 23rd most played game on Steam. Furthermore, the majority of negative reviews come from users who seem to have barely played the game. It remains to be seen how Blizzard will respond to this negative campaign.
