Payday 3 Gameplay Reveal Expected This Summer, Teaser Trailer Hints
Starbreeze Studios and Prime Matter have unveiled a new teaser trailer for the highly anticipated sequel, Payday 3. Surprisingly, the 21-second clip reveals even less information about the game compared to its predecessor. The teaser features a mysterious silhouette uttering the words, “Alright guys, it’s a simple job,” followed by a glimpse of the Payday 3 logo.
Fortunately, amidst the scarcity of details, the teaser does offer a hint about when we can expect to witness the game in action: this summer. Speculation suggests that Payday 3 might make an appearance during one of the upcoming non-E3 summer showcases, although Starbreeze has yet to confirm this.

Additional tidbits of information can be gleaned from various sources surrounding the trailer. In a Steam news post accompanying the video, Starbreeze reaffirms its commitment to releasing the game later this year, while acknowledging the lack of updates thus far. It is also revealed that Payday 3 will be powered by the Unreal Engine and will feature the return of the four playable protagonists from the previous games.
However, the biggest question hovering over Payday 3 is whether it can overcome the tumultuous period Starbreeze endured after the disastrous launch of Overkill’s The Walking Dead. Following that setback, the publisher filed for reconstruction to avoid bankruptcy, and its offices were later raided by Swedish authorities, leading to accusations of insider trading against CFO Sebastian Ahlskog. Ahlskog was initially convicted but later had the conviction overturned on appeal.
Starbreeze has since declared that its financial troubles are behind them and that Payday 3’s development is progressing smoothly. From an external standpoint, there is no apparent reason to doubt their claims. Nonetheless, given the lack of information surrounding the game, it is difficult to determine if Payday 3 will mark a triumphant comeback for the Swedish developer. Hopefully, in the coming months, we will gain a clearer understanding of the progress and direction of Payday 3.
