Fortnite May Integrate TikTok Videos Directly into the Game
Recent leaks from Fortnite hint at a potential new feature that would allow players to watch videos from platforms like TikTok directly within the game.
Screenshots of leaked code, shared by the prominent Fortnite leaks account HYPEX on Twitter, suggest the presence of a new feature labeled “PictureInPictureAction.” This feature appears to offer options for playing, pausing, liking, unliking, and reporting videos.
According to the leaker, there’s also mention of an “Advert” widget in the code, possibly indicating the inclusion of advertisements. Additionally, one of the supported platforms mentioned in the code could be TikTok.
While Epic Games has previously implemented a Picture-in-Picture (PiP) feature during the 2019 Fortnite World Cup, this leaked version seems to be more advanced. Unlike the previous version, which only allowed viewing matches from the World Cup, this one potentially enables interaction such as liking and reporting videos.
HYPEX commented that this new version of the Picture-in-Picture mode might be beneficial for slower-paced or single-player modes and maps. However, they expressed reservations about its use in competitive play, suggesting that using it in a battle royale match could be distracting or detrimental.
As Fortnite continues to evolve, integrating external content like TikTok videos could provide players with new forms of entertainment and engagement directly within the game environment.
