GeForce Now Decides to Withdraw from the Russian Market

Formerly known as Nvidia GRID, GeForce Now has been providing gamers with a subscription-based cloud gaming service for quite some time. Due to its extensive availability worldwide, GeForce Now stands as one of the most ambitious solutions in the cloud gaming realm. However, it will soon lose a significant market: Russia.

GeForce Now Pulls Out of Russia As reported by Russian media, Nvidia has started posting an announcement on the “GFN.ru” landing page this week. In this announcement, the company states that new registrations for GeForce Now in Russia will be discontinued starting from September 1st. Furthermore, the GeForce Now servers in the country will be shut down on October 1st. According to the statement, users with active subscriptions beyond October 1st will receive automatic refunds.

While Nvidia has announced its withdrawal from Russia, it does not explicitly state the concrete reason behind this decision. The company’s statement includes the phrase “Given the current conditions, we are unable to provide the service quality that we have defined for ourselves, that our users expect, and that they deserve.” The term “current conditions” most likely points to the ongoing conflict between Russia and Ukraine. Of course, there could be other reasons behind this withdrawal decision as well.

Regardless of the reason, GeForce Now is joining the list of technology services that are ceasing operations in Russia. This server shutdown process will likely impact other countries such as Belarus, Georgia, Armenia, and Azerbaijan. Nvidia has not yet indicated whether it plans to collaborate with a different partner in the region to continue the service.
