WoW Hunters Face Major Nerfs in Season of Discovery

In the initial stages of World of Warcraft’s (WoW) Season of Discovery, Hunters soared to success, harnessing potent pet scaling, notably with the Scorpid’s formidable poison attacks. This allowed the class to breeze through complex content and dominate in PvP settings. However, the class now faces a series of substantial nerfs that severely impact its damage output.

Rumors circulated among the player community regarding the potential removal of pet scaling, triggering concerns and uncertainty about the class’s viability. Senior Game Producer Josh Greenfield clarified that while adjustments were made, pet scaling is not entirely eliminated. Recent hotfixes targeted specific issues, such as Scorpid Poison not consuming kill command procs and unintended effects with Aspect of the Lion.

Despite these efforts, ongoing adjustments suggest that further fine-tuning is required to align the Hunter class with others in the game. Both Chimera Shot and Explosive Shot, essential abilities for Hunters, saw considerable reductions in the damage they dealt, even if the latter became a viable choice for AOE output.

The development team acknowledges the need for balance, asserting that the class is now more in line with other options. However, with more balancing expected in the coming weeks, players remain uncertain about the future trajectory of their beloved Hunter class in the broader scheme of World of Warcraft’s (WoW) evolving landscape.
