Rockstar Games’ beloved title Red Dead Redemption, originally released for Playstation 3 and Xbox 360, has been announced for release on PS4 and Nintendo Switch. The release, priced at $49.99 in the US, will also include the Undead Nightmare expansion.

Red Dead Redemption set to launch on August 17th After a period of leaks and rumors, it has been confirmed that the upcoming Red Dead Redemption release is not a remaster or remake, contrary to previous claims from leaks. Instead, the game presents an enhanced version of the Xbox 360 and PS3 editions. The announced version for Playstation 4 and Nintendo Switch will encompass not only the original game but also the Undead Nightmare and Game of the Year Edition expansions. The digital edition of the product is set to be available on August 17th through the Playstation Store and Nintendo eShop, with the physical version hitting shelves on October 13th.

Developed by Double Eleven Studios, the new Red Dead Redemption iteration doesn’t seem to introduce substantial changes over the original game. While technical details about the new release have yet to be fully disclosed, it appears that the improvements will primarily consist of minor resolution and graphical enhancements. Based on Rockstar Games’ announcement, it seems the game will not be released for Xbox Series or PC platforms. Xbox Series and Xbox One owners can play the Xbox 360 version of the game through backward compatibility. Playstation 5 users, on the other hand, will be able to play the PS4 version of Red Dead Redemption on their consoles. The storyline of the game directly connects to Red Dead Redemption 2, and this revamped version is scheduled for release next week.
