Browser Battle Heats Up: Microsoft Edge Threatens Apple’s Safari
The latest report from Statcounter for February 2023 reveals the latest details on the browser market. While there are no significant changes, Microsoft Edge risks losing its title as “the second most popular desktop browser” to Apple’s Safari.
According to the data, Google Chrome remains the most popular browser with 66.12% market share, a decrease of 0.29% from the previous month. Microsoft Edge holds second place with 10.84% market share, closely followed by Apple Safari at 10.14%. Surprisingly, Safari is now almost as close to Edge as it has been in a year.

These figures are crucial as Microsoft recently introduced new AI-based Chat features to Edge and Bing. The impact of these new features will be seen in the next report. If Microsoft manages to capitalize on this momentum, it will be a clear sign that Google has fallen behind in this area.
When we shift our focus to the mobile browser market, there have been few changes. Google Chrome and Apple Safari dominate almost 90% of the market, with Samsung Internet, Opera, UC Browser, and others sharing the rest.
