Ex-Sledgehammer Games Creative Director Bret Robbins recently revealed in an interview with MinnMax that the studio was working on Advanced Warfare 2 before shifting their focus to Call of Duty: WWII. Robbins explained that they had started development and had even created a demo level, but decided to switch to a World War 2 setting instead. 

He also discussed a canceled third-person Call of Duty title based in Vietnam, internally named ‘Fog of War.’ As for the franchise’s future direction, it remains unclear where Sledgehammer Games will take it following the release of their next premium title this year. Insider Gaming reports that the game was initially planned as a year 2 DLC for Modern Warfare II but turned into something much bigger.
