]]> Chinese game company NetEase has announced the RPG action game Project Mugen. Based on the teaser videos, it seems like a mix of GTA and Genshin Impact is on the horizon. Chinese game publisher NetEase Games has released a series of teasers featuring glimpses of the upcoming open-world RPG game, Project Mugen. The game is being developed by NetEase’s in-house studio known as Naked Rain.

In addition to the teasers, Project Mugen has an official website with a countdown timer set until the morning of August 24th. Most likely, the game’s extended announcement will take place on this date. Publisher NetEase is also known for online projects based on Chinese legends like the MMO Revelation Online, the combat game Naraka: Bladepoint, and the mobile role-playing action game Diablo: Immortal.

From the released teaser videos, Project Mugen seems to offer an open world with the ability to move around in various vehicles, much like the iconic game Grand Theft Auto. The cityscape itself bears resemblance to Night City from Cyberpunk 2077, with neon signs and certain buildings. There are also hints from the popular game Genshin Impact.

While detailed information about Project Mugen is still lacking, the initial teasers showcase a car driving through the metropolis, snippets of combat (reminiscent of Hi-Fi Rush), and intriguing cutscenes. The full unveiling of the game is expected to take place at the Gamescom 2023 event alongside an event scheduled for August 24th. The game will be released on PC, PlayStation 5, iOS, and Android.
